Jason Laure

My work is the result of a lifetime of photographing in Africa, from a wedding in Morocco to the mines of southern Africa. I offer an intimate view of the people, places and cultures of Africa including authentic ceremonies such as the Kuomboka of the Lozi people in Zambia and a Samburu circumcision ceremony in Kenya.

He depicts the daily life of the Bushmen, the joyous dances of the Maasai, and the coming-of-age, reed dance ceremony of the Swazi. Throughout my thirty-five years in Africa, I have concentrated on telling the stories of its diverse people.

African culture is vibrant and colorful, joyous and meaningful whether it is the festive Coon Carnival of the Coloreds in Cape Town or the spectacular costumes and dances of the Dogon people of Mali.
